Hi, I’m Richard Austen, Proud Owner of The Avenue Estate Agents in South Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas.

I’m thrilled to be helping people across South Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas achieve amazing results—whether it’s selling a beloved family home or finding that next perfect place. With over a decade in the property industry, I work with clients who are looking for a premium, hands-on service that’s honest, high-quality, and tailored just for them.

My journey into estate agency actually began in construction, where I trained as a quantity surveyor. That background has been a real game-changer for me—having a strong understanding of how homes are built gives me a huge advantage when it comes to valuing and marketing them. I entered the industry as a valuer (a rare starting point), and over time worked my way up to become Managing Director of a local estate agency. Running my own business had always been a dream, and I’m proud to now bring all of that experience and know-how directly to my clients in a truly personal way.

I’ve always believed in doing things the right way, which is exactly why I joined The Avenue. It’s not about being the biggest—it’s about being the best. I’ve lived in Cambridgeshire all my life and currently live in the lovely village of Swavesey. I genuinely believe South Cambridgeshire is one of the best places to live—it has that perfect blend of peaceful countryside charm and village community, while still being incredibly well connected. Add in excellent schools, local pubs and cafés, and easy access to Cambridge’s thriving economy and culture, and it’s easy to see why people want to move here.
