Today was Riverport’s first business networking meeting of the month – a vibrant ‘Big One’ at Zest, One Leisure in St Ives. 27 diverse business owners and representatives made their way to catch up, eat breakfast and exchange a multitude of tips on maximising business data analysis.
As a group, we chatted about what data we seek out in our individual businesses and what we do with it once we have it. Here are a few examples of snippets that cropped up as ‘things we do that work for us’:
- Response time – how long does it take you to respond to an enquiry through your website?
- Google reports – you can set Google to send you a monthly or weekly report on where your websites come from.
- Measure conversions – if you get a call from a prospective client, how well do you track your success?
- Don’t obsess on turnover of sales – margins are far more important.
- Pick a small number of metrics to track, 6 to 10 is ideal – don’t try to measure pages of data, pick the important ones.
Business networking (in particular with Riverport) adds a multitude of benefits to your business:
- Build connections, partnerships and friendships
- Get away from the hum-drum / daily grind / stressful life of being a business owner
- Opportunities to deliver regular presentations on your business and ideal leads
- Expect new leads – members are encouraged to deliver leads to others weekly
- Access help, insights and suggestions from other members to solve business problems
- Eat a very well-cooked English breakfast once a month!
- Visit The Commute café once a month to drink coffee worthy of a coffee snob!
- Two online meetings monthly to take less time out of your day
So come and join us – next week is online, the week after is the Commute, then next online again and then we have our first March meeting at Zest – for that all-important full English!
